LAD - LION proves effectiveness at major fire in Hamburg

On 2nd January the worst fire since 1985 occurred at harbor in Hamburg. A storehouse of 3,000 sq. meters in size containing rubber, 10,000 liters of domestic fuel oil, 20 cylinders of gas and 3 gas-operated forklift trucks went up in flames. Damages running into millions resulted.
More than 250 firemen were involved in an action costing several hundreds of thousands of Euros. 150 firemen’s suits were so badly clotted with rubber that they will probably not be able to be cleaned and will have to be disposed of. Whether the remaining protective clothing can be used further is currently being examined.
Within 24 hours, the LAD supplied a comprehensive range of protective clothing as replacement for the damaged equipment. “The LION International protective clothing has once again proved its worth during this major fire. Our innovative and high-quality V-Force® firefighting coveralls provide the wearer with a maximum in heat and chemical protection. Our own research department and 40 patents ensure our product leadership,” said Dr. Matthias Manger, Managing Director Lion Apparel Deutschland GmbH, “In addition, our optimum storage procedures make it possible to provide rapid replacement and supply 150 new firemen’s suits. Thus, the LAD was once again able to supply proof of its reliability, preparedness to provide services, and its ability to react rapidly as service provider for the Hamburg Fire Brigade.”
